Step 4 - Some workspace work
Leave the gradient selected, and press Ctrl + T, and resize it to be as in the picture below, keep it’s width under 10 px. Then press enter to disengage from the transfer mode back to a normal workspace.

Note:  if your wire is off towards one side be sure to move it back towards the middle
