Step 6 - Making a Crescent Selection
Now we're going to make a crescent shape onto our shield with the elliptical selection tool. Take the setting off of fixed aspect ratio and change it to Normal. Click and drag until you have an oval that is similar to this image.





We are going to carve out a crescent moon shape by holding ALT and drawing another oval that overlaps the first one like a crescent moon. This will subtract the shape and create a crescent-shaped selection.
